From 13 to 17 January, the 98th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) took place in Washington D.C., and My-Trac was present with a poster session on "Understanding travel behavior through travel happiness'.
Elena Mantouka from Aethon, who presented the poster, tells us:
The poster session during the TRB Annual Meeting 2019 was aimed at putting travel happiness as the focus of people’s decision making process, and defining its two aspects:
- The medium-term aspect which aggregates the feeling and emotions of users about their mobility patterns
- The short-term, which encapsulates the dynamically changing affective factors during travel, which may of course vary in relation to the trip conditions
The questionnaire designed for the purposes of this research as well as the most significant results of the survey conducted were also presented.
Finally, taking advantage of the questionnaire survey results, a Bayesian Network was developed to highlight the interrelations between the parameters of the trip, the demographics of the traveler, travel happiness and travel-related choices.
The session was very successful since it attracted both researchers and operators. The session lasted about 2 hours and our poster was well-visited from the very beginning. Many researchers were curious to learn about “Travel Happiness” and how we quantify travelers’ feelings in My-TRAC.
